Comment faire un Babyboomer en Gel et Poudre

How to do a Baby Boomer with Gel and Powder

The baby boomer nail art is appealing due to its subtle gradient between a natural shade and the dazzling white tip of the nail. Discover here how to achieve it with gel and powder, for extended wear and a professional finish.

Why choose gel and powder?

  • A very soft gradient, with no harsh lines or brushes
  • Long-lasting wear (2 to 3 weeks)
  • A natural and elegant finish
  • Less risk of allergies with gel than with resin

Required materials

  • Oh Blush Gel Kit
  • Oh Blush Powder: pink, white, and clear
  • 99.9% alcohol
  • UV/LED lamp
  • Nail file + buffer block

Steps to achieve a gel and powder baby boomer

  1. Nail preparation: push back cuticles, shape the nail (natural or extension), file, and apply 1 to 2 coats of Oh Blush GEL PREP.
  2. Base gel application: Apply a thin layer of GEL BASE and cure for 30 seconds under an LED lamp.
  3. Gradient creation: Apply a thin layer of Oh Blush GEL TREMPAGE, sprinkle the nail with Cover Pink powder starting from the top, then with White powder starting from the bottom, until the two powders overlap. Cure for 1 minute under an LED lamp.
  4. Repeat this step with GEL TREMPAGE, Cover Pink, and White powder and cure for 1 minute.
  5. Strengthen with clear powder: Apply a coat of GEL TREMPAGE and sprinkle with Clear powder. Apply a final coat of GEL TREMPAGE and cure for 1 minute.
  6. Finish: Remove the sticky layer with 99.9% alcohol, gently file the gradient to smooth the application, apply GEL FINITION, and cure for 30 seconds.

Pro tips:

  • Use Nude or light Pink powder according to your preferences.
  • For a more natural gradient, slightly blend the powders in the transition area.
  • Use an orange wood stick to remove any excess gel that may have run around the nail before curing.
  • Moisturize cuticles daily to prolong wear.
  • If you're not very comfortable with potted powders, try our Ombre Spray to create your baby boomer and other gradients.

Trendy baby boomer variations

  • Colored baby boomer: replace white with soft blue, smoky gray, or pastel.
  • Mirror effect: add chrome powders or glitter to the tip.
