Filing and removal of artificial nails with electric file

Electric Nail File 101 Guide
Filling and Removing Artificial Nails with an Electric Nail File

We have previously explained how to choose your electric nail file, how to choose your bits for natural nails, and here is the last part of our Electric Nail File 101 Guide, for proper nail care with an electric nail file and performing fills or removing nail enhancements.

Avoid Waiting Too Long...

First, after 1 or 2 weeks, some areas of the enhancement may lift. Since infiltrations are always discouraged, it is essential to remove them to prevent fungal infections. So, first, you will need to use the cutting edge of a diamond cylinder. File slightly above the lifting to prevent the area from spreading.

Maintenance is Key!

You can then proceed with the fill, which is recommended every 2 or 3 weeks, to reposition the stress point correctly. The arched shape of the nail should not be neglected; it is essential for the nail's resistance to impact. We advise you to properly educate your clients so they understand the importance of suggested appointments. Now, with a sanding band or the same cylinder used for lifted areas, gradually thin the enhancement towards the cuticles, taking care not to dig into the natural nail plate. If necessary, you can reduce the length using a medium-grit sanding band. Afterward, reduce the thickness of the enhancement by half to reapply the product corresponding to the enhancement. If you wish to rebuild the smile line, take a lead pencil and draw the desired curve in the correct place on the nail. Using a diamond cylinder, tilt the cutting edge and follow the line drawn with the pencil. Again, remove the thickness from the tip by following the new curve of the nail. Remove all dust, and you can proceed with the fill. Always remember to check from all sides if the shape meets the application standards. Proceed with finishing and polishing.

Removal with a File is Healthier.

To completely remove the enhancement, cut the nail to the desired length. Set the electric file to a medium speed and file with a medium sanding cylinder or a diamond cylinder. It is best to leave a thin layer of product so as not to affect the natural nail. Finish the nail shape with a traditional file, wash hands, and moisturize cuticles with a cuticle oil. Finally, you can treat your nails with a fortifying treatment while you get a new enhancement!
