Comment faire des incustations en Gel et Poudre

How to do gel and powder inlays

Creating gel and powder inlays is an impressive technique that allows you to create unique effects in your sculpted nails. Unlike simple surface decorations, an inlay is integrated directly into your overlay, giving it exceptional depth and durability. Today, we will see step by step how to achieve this technique using a combination of gel and acrylic powder for a professional result. If you're a beginner, consider reading our article on the gel and powder technique to learn the basics.

Why choose gel and powder inlays?

This technique is ideal for:

  • Creating long-lasting nail art that won't get damaged during filing
  • Adding glitter, gold leaf, dried flowers, or other decorations
  • Offering a raised or transparent finish
  • Additionally, the gel and powder method allows for quick work while maintaining the gel's strength and shine.

Materials needed for inlays

To follow this tutorial, you will need:

  • Oh Blush Dipping Gel
  • Decorations to inlay: glitter, foil, dried flowers
  • Clear powder
  • Colored powders
  • Oh Blush Finishing Gel

Steps to successfully create your gel and powder inlays

  • Nail preparation: push back cuticles, shape the nail (natural or prosthetic), file, and apply 1 to 2 coats of Oh Blush GEL PREP.
  • Base gel application: Apply a thin layer of BASE GEL and cure for 30 seconds under an LED lamp.

  • Inlay creation:
  1. Apply a thin layer of Oh Blush DIPPING GEL, and pick up the decorations directly with the brush from the Oh Blush DIPPING GEL. Place the decorations as desired. Wipe your brush.
  2. Sprinkle the powders in the areas you want to create depth, and remove any excess.
  3. Sprinkle clear powder over the entire nail and cure for 1 minute under the LED lamp.
  4. Tap the Oh Blush DIPPING GEL onto your nail to soak all your powder.
  5. Sprinkle clear powder over the entire nail again, tap again with Oh Blush DIPPING GEL and cure for 1 minute under the LED lamp.
  6. You can repeat the clear powder / dipping gel / curing steps until you achieve the desired stress point.
  • Finishing : Remove the sticky layer with 99.9% alcohol, file with a 180/180 file to smooth the application, then buff and apply the FINISHING GEL, and cure for 30 seconds.

Expert tips

  • Do not overload the nail with decorations: too much can make the result look heavy
  • Always wipe your brush before putting it back in the gel bottle
  • For a natural effect, choose thin and translucent inlays
  • Experiment with complementary colors for an artistic effect
