Comment retirer des ongles en résine

How to remove acrylic nails

Many girls get resin nails and don't bother to find out how to remove them. The best option is to return to the nail technician who applied them, as they can either remove them, fill them, or give you a new manicure. Of course, this comes at a cost, and many will prefer to try it themselves.

Mistakes to avoid

While browsing forums, I came across some rather barbaric and completely unrecommended methods.

  • Trying to remove your nails with your teeth. Just thinking about it makes my teeth and nails hurt!
  • Removing resin nails with tweezers. You won't hurt your teeth, but you risk tearing off your natural nail and severely damaging it.
  • Soaking your nails in pure acetone or classic nail polish remover. Even if products designed to dissolve resin are acetone-based, they also contain moisturizing agents that help prevent damage to nails and skin. Pure acetone is far too aggressive, especially since you have to soak your fingers for at least 15 minutes. Your nails will become softer and more fragile. So, this is not the ideal solution.
  • We also see a lot of the aluminum foil method for nails. With a suitable product like a "dilue-tout" (all-dissolver), why not, but not with acetone for the same reasons as above.

Dilue Tout pour fondre ongles résine

How to remove resin without damaging your natural nails

The best method is to use a product designed for this purpose, such as Dilue-Tout. It is composed of about 70% acetone, with several other components added, such as jojoba oil to maintain skin and nail plate hydration. It has a pleasant fragrance, unlike the aggressive smell of acetone. Once you have the right product, here are the methods for using it.

Cold Dilue-Tout

pot brosse dilue-tout

Pour Dilue-Tout into a glass jar or an acetone-resistant plastic container (HDPE). I strongly recommend a jar designed for removing resin nails, as its diameter and height have been calculated for hand comfort, without using too much product. Additionally, the lid allows you to close the jar for later use. The brush pot is ideal because it is divided into two compartments, one for the thumb and the other for the other fingers, and most importantly, it contains nubs that allow you to rub your nails against them. This speeds up the removal of resin (or meltable UV gel). Lightly filing the nail surface will help the product work faster. It takes approximately 20 minutes for all traces of resin to disappear. The nubs in the pot help remove the resin, but if you don't have them, you can gently rub with a cuticle pusher or a soft sanding block to remove the last residues of resin.

Warm Dilue-Tout

I said warm! Do not heat it too much to avoid burning yourself. Another essential precaution to take into account: never use a microwave to heat Dilue-Tout or any other acetone-based product, as acetone is a highly flammable product. If you doubt it, read this article from Le Soleil newspaper: Warning: Do not heat nail polish remover in the microwave. On Dilue-Tout bottles, it is specified not to heat above 49°C. So how do you avoid exceeding this temperature?

ultrasonic pour retirer faux ongles en résine

Heated ultrasonic cleaner: With the heated ultrasonic cleaner, you combine heat and ultrasonic waves, two methods that accelerate resin melting. You will see the melting time halved, to about 10-12 minutes. Moreover, the ultrasonic cleaner heats just enough to avoid the risk of burns. Always check that it is not too hot before immersing your fingers. Also remember to check that the appliance's plastic can withstand acetone. The appliance is a little expensive, but it can also be used to clean jewelry, glasses, and manicure tools.

Bain-marie: Put the Dilue-Tout in a bowl and gently place the bowl in a pot of water. Heat for a few minutes, just to warm up the Dilue-Tout.

With a wax warmer: By setting the wax warmer to minimum, it can also heat the acetone. Since the wax warmer can get very hot, make sure to set the thermostat to minimum and that the temperature is comfortable for you.
