Lots of tips for successful stamping
Stamping allows you to create beautiful nail art easily once you master the technique. Many people get discouraged after a few attempts because the results are not what they expected. In this video, we show you the secrets to successfully stamping.
Choosing the right stamping equipment
The stamping plate
- Always clean it well with acetone-free remover
- Apply a little 99% alcohol to keep it shiny and beautiful
- Check the depth of the patterns on the plate. Poor quality plates are shallow, so even with the right technique, you won't be able to properly work your stamping. At Ongles d'Or, all our stamping plates are tested before being released to the market.
- Don't forget to remove the blue film on new plates.
The stamper
- The quality varies greatly from one stamper to another, and the technique will be different for proper use. For some, you will need to press harder, others not at all... You will need to find the stamper that suits you best.
- A transparent stamper will make it easier for you to see where to place your design on the nail.
- Clean the tip of the stamper with acetone-free remover so that the stamper always retains its stickiness.
Stamping polishes
- Using polishes specially designed for stamping will be easier if you are a beginner. They are more
- CND's regular Creative Play also works wonderfully for stamping.
How to successfully stamp
- Once you have applied the polish to the plate, do not scrape it too much. You just need to gently wipe the plate so as not to remove too much polish. This way the stamper can pick up enough polish to transfer to the nail. You will feel like there is too much polish on the plate, which is normal.
- If your design is clearly visible on the stamper but you are unable to transfer it to the nail, it is generally because your nail polish is not slow-drying. This is why we recommend a special stamping polish.
- With your stamper, simply make a left-to-right motion of about 45 degrees on the plate. The design should appear clearly on the stamper.
- Then apply the design to the nail with the same motion you made on the plate. A transparent stamper allows you to clearly see your application.
- Remove excess polish from the stamper by stamping it on a sheet of paper or with acetone-free remover.
- You can use stamping on any coating and remove it simply with a little remover.
- Wait until the polish is completely dry before applying your top coat.
