On vous parle du Gel et Poudre Oh Blush

We're talking about Oh Blush Gel and Powder

In this live broadcast on October 10th, in collaboration with Josée Turmel, Valérie explains the Oh Blush gel and powder technique. Josée asks all the questions that novice girls who have never done nail extensions might have. A perfect video if you're hesitant about getting false nails or if you want to learn how to do them.

What is the Gel and Powder technique?

It's an increasingly popular technique because it's less allergenic than other techniques as it doesn't emit any odor. The gel and powder technique is quite simple to do, even without being a technician, and involves using a gel and a colored powder to make the nail more resistant and achieve a beautiful manicure that will last longer than a simple nail polish. This technique can be used on very short nails, even without a prosthesis. If your nails are short, brittle, or soft, this is a very good technique to easily have beautiful nails without damaging them. Almost all powders can be used, offering an infinite array of colors. It is not at all mandatory to use a prosthesis with this technique. Oh Blush Gels are high-quality Quebec products, free of MMA.

How to apply Oh Blush gel and powder?

  • Prepare your nails according to the nail preparation technique: push back cuticles, reshape the nail, gently buff with a yellow block to remove nail shine and soften ridges. We are not aiming to thin the nail.
  • Apply dehydrator; it will help the products adhere. Be aware that it remains effective for about 15 minutes. So don't do all your fingers at once, or you'll have to start over.
  • Apply a very thin layer of Oh Blush gel; this is a base, so no other products are needed.
  • Sprinkle the powder over your gel. The powder is the color, so there will be no polish. Since the gel is thicker than resin, you need to apply powder as long as the gel absorbs it.
  • Remove excess with a dusting brush (large brush) and cure for 1 minute under an LED lamp.
  • You can, of course, do all 4 nails and then cure them all together under the lamp.
  • Apply a second layer of gel + powder, then create your apex: apply a little clear (transparent) powder at the stress point, then cover with gel and cure the nail for 1 minute.

Point de stress ongle

  • For longer nails, repeat the stress point step several times, with 30-second partial cures for each layer, until a beautiful apex is achieved.
  • Remove the sticky effect with 99.9% alcohol.
  • File your nail, with a file or a block, to improve the nail's shape and allow the top coat to adhere well.
  • Apply the top coat, matte or glossy, and cure for 30 seconds.

Valérie's tips

  • For the first coat, apply only one coat of gel before curing to avoid color changes: 1 coat of gel + powder + lamp.
  • The gel layer should be very thin, and remember to brush off excess powder before curing to prevent the overlay from being too thick.
  • Reinforce the stress point (the apex) to strengthen the nail: powder on the stress point + gel + cure or partial cure if you go over your stress point multiple times.
  • It's better to apply several very thin layers than one single thick layer.
