Doing your child's nails?

Many children and young teenagers want to do their nails. But what is acceptable to put on children's nails? And above all, what should absolutely not be put on their nails?

What not to put on children's nails

Anything that is a solid coating or a baked coating should be avoided: resin, gel, polygel, acrylic, and gel polish.

Why? Because children's nails have not finished forming, the child does not yet have all their nail layers, so their nails are much more fragile than those of adults. If the coating is torn off or improperly removed, it will damage the nail and be very painful, because the nail is much thinner. This can easily happen during a sports class, roughhousing, or simply because they tear them off to remove them. Furthermore, children and teenagers experience many hormonal changes that will influence the hold of coatings, which will last much less on them. We also avoid putting children's and young teenagers' nails under a UV/LED lamp, as well as soaking nails in acetone.

It is for all these reasons that we do not offer nail extension training to teenagers under 16.

What to put on children's nails?

• Regular polishes are ideal, especially professional polishes that dry quickly, like Vinylux or Morgan Taylor. You can also use a nail polish dryer to speed up drying: for young children, this will give them the impression of a real manicure by putting their hands in the nail polish dryer ;-)
• All kinds of stickers for easy and quick nail art that is also safe for children. There are water decals and regular decals. To make them last longer, cover them with top coat.
• Stencils allow you to easily create designs with regular polishes or even paint! They can also simply draw on their fingers with paint and a fine brush.
• Stamping is a slightly more difficult technique, but children and teenagers can safely use this technique with stamping plates and polishes.
• You can also safely use decorative tapes and foil glue.

As you can see, there are many products that allow children to do their nails safely. And with a little imagination, they will really feel like they have a manicure just like yours.
