How to apply pigment powders
- Apply your base and colour coat.
- Apply a layer of matte top coat (ex: Fini-Plus Matte) and cure for only 15 seconds under a LED lamp (do not fully cure).
- Using a pigment brush or silicone applicator, gently tap the powder onto the nail surface to create the desired effect.
- Finish curing your top coat for 45 to 60 seconds.
- Seal with a second coat of top coat (matte or glossy) and cure again for 60 seconds.
Design effects you can create
- Simple ombré: tap the pigment from the base of the nail and blend toward the center for a soft babyboomer style.
- Double gradient: tap one colour at the top and another at the base, blending towards the middle for a smooth transition.
- Aura nails: tap pigment in the center of the nail and work around it in circular motion for a soft halo look.
- Multi-color aura nails: use 2 or 3 colours starting from the edges towards the center, tapping each layer gently for a soft multi-tone aura effect.
- Colourful babyboomer: replace the classic pink/white combo with bright colours for a modern twist.
- Chrome effect: apply the pigment over a glossy top coat and rub the powder across the nail for a smooth, lustrous chrome finish (not mirror-like).
Tips & Maintenance
- Always use a matte top coat under pigments to improve adhesion.
- Wipe your brush between colours to avoid unwanted colour mixing.
- Keep the palette tightly closed to prevent powder loss.
- Try contrasting colours for bold and creative nail designs.
What’s the difference between pigments and chrome powders?
Pigments are ultra-fine coloured powders that create soft gradients, aura effects, and blurred finishes on the nail. They’re perfect for aura nails, colourful baby boomers, and artistic looks. On the other hand, chrome powders (also known as mirror powders) have a metallic texture and offer a shiny, lustrous or mirrored finish when rubbed onto a glossy surface. Each powder type produces a unique effect and cannot be used interchangeably.
